Love It & List It

My name’s Michela and I’m a listaholic. (Que chorus of “Hi, Michela.“) The fact that I just made up the word listaholic  doesn’t take away from the fact that I am utterly addicted to the process of making lists, checking things off lists, and collecting useful (and not-so useful) lists from around the interwebs.

And so dear readers, have I got a treat for you. Here are 10 glorious lists I’ve been collecting for the past while that are just begging to be shared. It’s a LIST OF LISTS!!

  1. An amazing guide for styling my new short ‘do: 4 DIY Hairstyles For Cropped Cuts
  2. I’m turning 25 in August of this year (what the whaaat?!) so I’m loving this list from Thought Catalog: 25 Things To Do Before You Turn 25
  3. Igniting my wanderlust for the year: 52 Places To Go In 2014
  4. I’ve seen a few of these already (and loved ’em) so I’m stoked to check out the rest of these: 25 Spectacular Movies You (Probably) Haven’t Seen
  5. Helpful tips for my goal of fluency en Français: 22 Tips For Learning A Foreign Language
  6. Buzzfeed made an amazing list about my favourite human of the year here: 51 Times In 2013 Jennifer Lawrence Proved She Was Master Of The Universe
  7. … and one that looks extremely promising for my goal of 52 books in 52 weeks: 16 Books To Read Before They Hit Theaters This Year
  8. One for the guys: 24 Rules For Being A Gentleman in 2014

New Obsession: Jack Wills

I came across UK brand Jack Wills while perusing the ever-amazing Honestly…WTF and could not be more in love. Seriously. I feel like the styling in their new fall lookbook was made exclusively for me; tweed jackets, layered cardigans, chambray-denim combos, loafers, and, trousers galore! These images are giving me serious fall outfit inspiration and I can’t wait for it to get a bit colder (don’t hate me) so I can rock some of these looks properly. Every year I get so excited for this season of dressing and I’m especially amped to try out some new autumn pieces acquired in the last little bit. Stay tuned!

Summer Inspiration

I came across this image back in May and couldn’t help but stop and stare. Cool, comfortable, and completely my style, this woman has definitely been my go-to outfit inspiration for the past couple of months. I’ve pretty much been wearing variations since shorts weather finally arrived in Vancouver and love the way it comes across as casual, yet still put together. Stay tuned for my ‘mix and match’ version later this week!

Happy Hundred!

Well kids, it’s official. My humble little blog/occasional travel diary made it to 100 posts. Trust me, I’m just as surprised as you are! It’s kind of funny looking back at some of my older posts, especially since I feel like I’ve just gotten a real feel for things in the past few months. Takes a while to find your groove!

I’d just like to say a quick thanks (no Oscar speeches here) to a couple of lovely ladies for continuing to inspire me in blogging and in life.  Alicia of Alicia Fashionista, who has taught me so much and brings me along to help out with really cool projects (like this feature in The Province!); Laura of Dedicated Not Addicted, my amazing friend who just completed her first fitness competition; and Eden of Nouveau Paradis, who has been with me since the beginning of my blogging journey and is always there for a laugh/cry/hug/chat. My thanks to you.

Here’s to the next 100!

I’m still working on a massive post recounting everything I managed to get up to this summer (when I wasn’t blogging), but in the meantime here’s something to tide you over. Spotted on the blog Honestly…WTF, I couldn’t help but share this brilliant little spot. It’s especially relevant during New York Fashion Week, where many of these outfits have clearly inspired current collections.

Happy Wednesday!

J.Crew, I L.You

I’ve decided that J.Crew has pretty much everything I’ll ever want and need when it comes to deliciously stylish basics. After browsing through their amazing LookBook today, I realized that there wasn’t a single outfit that I didn’t stop and drool over. Bad news for my bank account, but excellent news for my fall wardrobe.

Ps. Is that not my doppelganger? Mustard yellow clothing, brown locks and nerdy specs are somewhat of my signature…

When I Grow Up

Via The Sartorialist

Given the inevitability of getting old, it always surprises me how hard some people take it. I know it’s a bit rich coming from a 21 (almost 22!) year old, but I can’t wait to grow old. I mean, if I can be as stylish as these two ladies (Lee Radziwill and Miyano Haraki) when I’m their age, what’s there to worry about?

I Want…

I want this woman’s hair, lipstick and sunglasses. Loving the bad-ass biker boots and leopard print too.

Happy Tuesday everyone!
